Mange In Dogs - Canine Scabies

Mange is a common skin disease that affects dogs as well as other pets, such as birds and cats. Your dog may develop mange due to exposure to an infected animal, dirty fur, lack of proper hygiene, an infection from the mother to the pup in unhygienic breeding conditions.

Some common symptoms that you can see in dogs with mange are severe itching, hair loss, weight loss, crusty discharge from the ears, a general lethargic feeling and sores resulting from constant scratching.

You can also use these home remedies to treat mange in dogs.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar

Raw non-filtered apple cider Vinegar is another simple home remedy that can be applied topically to treat and control scabies infection. Apple cider vinegar is mainly used for its antiseptic and antimicrobial properties.

-Mix together 1 cup each of apple cider vinegar and water. Pour it into a spray bottle. Spray the solution on your dog’s fur and comb. Make sure the solution saturates the skin completely. Allow the fur to air-dry.
-Use this remedy 2 or 3 times a week, depending on the severity of the mange.

Neem

Neem, or Indian Lilac has various skin benefits for pets, as well as for humans. The disinfectant helps treat scabies and prevent infection. It also nourishes, chills the skin and ensures faster re-growth of the fur.

-Mix equal amounts of pure neem oil and coconut oil. Apply it to affected area 2 or 3 times a day.

Vegetable Oil
Vegetable Oil

Any kind of vegetable oil can help remove mites and deal with scabies. Stickiness of vegetable oils will block the mite's air supply and ultimately help to kill them. It will also soften the crust and sediment left behind by the mites. Soak the clean sponge with vegetable oil. Run oil immersed sponge along your dog's fur.

Honey

Honey is another natural thing that can greatly help relieve your pet's discomfort. This powerful antioxidant makes it difficult for ticks to survive long on the skin. It provides relief from painful itching and scratches. In addition, its natural antiseptic nature helps to heal the skin and prevent further infection.

To use locally, apply raw honey directly to the affected skin. Please allow me to sit it for several hours. Wipe the excess with water to prevent your dog's skin from being bitten by ants attracted to honey. Please do this twice a day.

Lemon

Lemon is commonly used to handle some skin problems in humans, but what can also be used for animals. As it is very acidic, lemon juice can kill microscopic parasites normally. It helps to heal damaged skin.
-Please cut lemon (with skin) into small pieces. Add cut up lemon to a pot full of water. Bring water to a good boil. You can turn off the stove, cover the pan and soak it overnight. In the morning, apply the mixture using a sponge to your pet's coat. Do this everyday. Note: Do not apply lemon juice directly to an open wound as it can cause a burning sensation.

Food-Grade Diatomaceous Earth
Food-Grade Diatomaceous Earth

Invasion of scabies can be controlled by giving food grade diatomaceous earth internally. It is a non-toxic and safe substance for dogs.
For medium-sized dogs, add 1 tablespoon of food grade diatomaceous earth to their food.
For small dogs and puppies, take only one teaspoon per day, please. Please do this for about a month.
To use topically, prepare dry powder with equal amount of neem powder. I rub this powder mixture on your dog's coat twice each day. It can be used twice everyday, there is no need to rinse it.

Note: Avoid getting diatomaceous earth around the eyes and mouth of the dog as it can irritate the mucous membranes. Make sure you use food grade Diatomaceous Earth.

Yogurt
Yogurt

To treat the problem of discharge from your dog's ear from scabies, yogurt is very useful. Acidophilus bacteria found in yoghurt can help to eliminate the symptoms and can ease the discomfort experienced by your dog.

Gently put natural, plain yogurt (two tablespoons) into the your pet's ears infected with scabies. Please rinse with lukewarm water at the end of the day. Repeat once, until there is no further crusty or discoloration discharge from the ear.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a great treatment for human skin diseases, but it is also suitable for dogs. Due to the natural antiseptic and antiparasitic nature, Aloe vera is a great relief for dog scabies. This natural soothing agent can provide immediate relief from itching and scratching.

-Please give your dog a nice soap bath. Dry the fur air and apply fresh Aloe vera gel to the skin. There is no need to rinse the gel from the skin. Do this until you see improvement.
