Kennel Cough In Dogs - Tracheobronchitis

Kennel cough, also known as tracheobronchitis, is one of the world’s most widespread canine diseases. Kennel cough is mainly caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica bacteria. Several viruses may also contribute to this problem.

Symptoms of kennel cough include intermittent coughing that increases at night, coughing triggered by exercise, runny eyes, nasal discharge and vomiting mucous at the end of a coughing spasm. There will also be loss of appetite and a reduced energy level.

Try these home remedies to make your dog more comfortable and promote a speedy recovery from kennel cough.

Steam
Steam

Steam is the most effective kennel cough therapy. The warmth of the steam opens the bronchial tube of the infected dog and helps to remove excess sputum from the throat. When your pet removes sputum, he or she starts to feel better and the healing process will be faster as well.

-Turn on a hot shower in the bathroom and allow the steam to build
-Put your dog in the bathroom to inhale the steam for 15-20 minutes.
-Do not leave your dog alone in the bathroom during this process.

Another effective home relief for your pet is honey. The antimicrobial effect of honey helps fight infection-causing bacteria. Honey helps to relieve nasal discharge caused by Kennel cough.
