Garlic produces cysteine sulfoxide, which gives it the distinct odor and taste. The worst part is that the smell of garlic may stay in your lungs for 24 to 48 hours after you consume it. Garlic has many nutritional and medicinal properties. Garlic is an excellent source of magnesium, vitamins B6 and C, and selenium. It also possesses antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and many other medicinal properties.

Apple contains oxidizing enzymes. These same enzymes can neutralize the garlic odor and help remove garlic breath. Also, apple phenolic compounds help destroy volatile compounds in garlic that cause bad breath. The 2016 study published in the Food Science Journal found that eating raw apple may help reduce garlic breath. When you have garlic breath, eat apples to get rid of it.

Milk is another natural ingredient that provides a very easy way to neutralize garlic breath. A 2013 study published at the Food Science Journal found that drinking milk can reduce malodor breath associated with garlic consumption. In this study, both fat free and whole milk reduced the concentration of volatile odorous compounds from the nose and mouth. Simply drink a glass of milk can effectively reduce garlic breath.

Mint

Mint leaves have an important deodorizing effect on volatile garlic compounds. Mint's chlorophyll can mask the scent of garlic. In addition, it has gentle antiseptic properties to help reduce bad breath caused by bacteria. Bite some leaf of fresh mint, or drink a soothing mint tea to fight against garlic breath. You can also crush mint leaves to scrapes and apply the juice to your hand to remove garlic smells from your hands.

Just like mint, parsley is another herb that can fight garlic breath and help to eliminate any odor in your hands. It's chlorophyll absorbs the smell and helps you to smell anew. After eating foods including a good amount of garlic, chew some fresh parsley. Additionally, you can put a handful of parsley in 2 glasses of water. Add 2 or 3 whole cloves and boil water for 5 minutes. Please allow it to cool before drinking the parsley tea. To get rid of garlic smell on your hands, please rub some parsley leaves and juice between your hands.

Another good kitchen ingredient to deal with garlic smell is lemon. Lemons can neutralize enzymes produced by garlic and therefore neutralize the garlic smell. It also helps to lower the pH level of the skin. And makes it difficult for compounds producing odor to stay in the body. Add 1 cup of lemon juice to the water and mix well. Please rinse your mouth with this solution thoroughly to reduce garlic odor. After eating any food with a strong garlic taste, please sip the newly made lemon water. For your hands, rub the lemon peel or lemon juice to get rid of the garlic smell.

Baking Soda

When it comes of any kind of malodor, baking soda is a safe ingredient to try. It can neutralize garlic smells in your mouth as well as your hands. It also helps to maintain the pH balance of the mouth, hampering the growth of bacteria. Please mix baking soda and sea salt in a cup of warm water. Rinse your mouth once or twice. For your hands, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply it to your hands. Leave for a few minutes and rinse with water. You can also sprinkle baking soda in the palms of both hands, rub them together for a minute, then rinse them with plain water.

Olive Oil

Olive oil acts as a shield and prevents the smell of garlic from sticking to your hands. Put a few drops of olive oil in your hand and rub it completely. Now you can peel or chop garlic without any worry of the smell sticking to your hand. Also, if you need to chop a good amount of garlic, it will not cause your hand to burn. Do not use too much oil as it can reduce the friction between your hands and kitchen utensils. Apart from olive oil, coconut oil and palm oil also work.
